Day 2 was absolute chaos. Australia Bazballed harder than England, smashing at 5.18 runs per over to reach 6-378 and take a 44-run lead. Then they nearly threw it all away in the final session.
Weatherald (72 off 78) lit up the Gabba with 9 fours and a six before Archer yorked his big toe
Three batters got solid starts but couldn't convert - Head caught at 77-run partnership, Labuschagne out on 65, Smith gone for 61
Jamie Smith dropped Head on 3 - cost England dearly as he immediately smashed 14 from the next 7 balls
England's bowling labeled "rubbish" by Ricky Ponting and "erratic" by Stuart Broad
Green and Smith put on 95 runs looking unstoppable. Then Green started backing away baseball-style trying to smash short balls. Carse outsmarted him with a yorker, bowled him for 45. Smith fell 3 balls later to Will Jacks's ridiculous diving one-hander.
Two late dropped catches - Duckett spilled Carey, Root dropped him again off Atkinson. Neser and Carey (46no, 15no) rescued Australia with an unbroken 49-run stand.
England somehow still in this despite bowling absolute trash for most of the day.
